Canadian Mint – Gifts for any budget Review-Giveaway 3 Winners

A few years back I had been looking for months to buy my dad the perfect gift with no luck. It was really difficult to pick him up something that he would like and he already did not have. I happened to be in my local Canada post a few days after I  had finally given up and saw a coin set. It included a few different coins and a really nice case. I remembered my dad had coins from when he was a kid and he also collected coins from places he visited around the world. I knew at that moment it would be the perfect gift. Since then, I have visited Canada Post and purchased many gifts for family and friends.

This year since my son participated in the Rick Hansen Man in motion relay I went and got him the coin to go with it. These coins are a great way to keep memories alive. Showcasing them in our home creates conversation and gives us a sense of pride. I am happy to share with you all our most recent additions.

I was sent the silver Gretzky Hologram coin which is a $25 coin valued at $99.99. The price is fitting since Wayne Gretzky’s number was 99. This coin comes in a beautiful case and is going to me under our tree for one of my boys. Since they are both huge hockey fans it is going to be hard to choose which one will want it the most. Another unique thing that  my boys will love is that this coin has a picture of Walter Gretzky on it. My kids have had a few opportunities to meet the great ones father and his dedication to youth athletics is like no other.

From the Canadian Mint site
With each coin sold, a portion of sales will be donated to the Wayne Gretzky Foundation where the mission is to provide less fortunate youth with the opportunity to experience the sport of hockey. To date, the Wayne Gretzky Foundation has raised over $1-million dollars in support of youth in hockey.”

The clam-shell case the coin arrived in protects it from scratches and keeps it safe while on display

You can display it or safely put this coin away for the future.

This coin would be the perfect gift for a coin collector, a hockey fan or anyone wanting a piece of Canadian history. I hope whichever son I give this to will pass it on to his child in the future.

Now this coin is a bit on the higher scale as far as coins and gift value go. You most likely have a hard time finding this in your post office. However you can shop online at www.mint.ca or visit a location close to you if you are near one. And a special note, I saw today on the Royal Canadian Mint site that they offer a full money back guarantee. Online shopping is great when it is worry free :)

Another coin that I think would make a great gift and is lower priced is silver-plated 25th anniversary of the Loonie coin Can you believe it has been 25 years? Boy I clearly remember when this coin was introduced.  To celebrate this anniversary you can purchase the coin that comes with a book and a paper toys you can make (origami) 1987-2011 twenty five years of the Loonie

from their site
Includes a “Build your own Loon” paper toy as well as a full color mini-book with illustrations telling the story of the Loonie:
“He floats peacefully on the clear waters of an eternally still Canadian lake: the iconic gold-tone one-dollar Loonie, an ordinary part of Canadian life. But did you know that the path he’s paddled to your pocket has been rife with adventure?” Read the booklet to discover some fascinating facts about Canada’s well-loved waterfowl coin.

The coin is safely displayed in the plastic blister for all to see.
This coin is an affordable gift at $24.95 and would make a great last minute gift. I personally have seen it at my Canada Post location. I plan on sticking thee in my childrens stockings. Then in 25 years they can maybe get a 50th anniversary coin too.

I am super excited to offer my Canadian readers a chance to win the above coins. 1 reader will win the Gretzky hologram coin and 2 winners will get the 25th anniversary Loonie in the booklet with the paper toy.  Fill out the rafflecopter form for your chance to win
