Gran has decided that she is taking nine-year-old Alice and eight-year-old Cal on a road trip across Canada “before she’s old and creaky.” With a sparkling combination of poems, silly songs, tweets and blogs, the trio records the trip for readers everywhere to share. Starting in St. John’s Newfoundland, where they have a “find-it” list that includes a moose and an iceberg and going all the way to the Pacific Ocean, the gang in Hey Canada! offers a delightful way to learn about vast, varied, and surprising Canada.
As a mom and a Canadian I found this book to be a great addition to our home library. I am thrilled to be posting about it this weekend as it is Canada’s Birthday. The pages are filled with information about every province and our rich history. My children enjoyed learning facts about our country that that never knew before. They were not the only ones learning, I learned a lot reading this too. If you are planning a road trip anywhere within Canada, near or far, you will want to get your hands on this book. Each page is set up with different points of view, quick facts, tweets, updates (like a blog or journal) and more. This book is full of attractions as well. May I did not know about before.
Some of the great attractions in this book are
- The Cabot trail Nova Scotia
- Confederation Bridge PEI
- The Big nickel in Sudbury
- The Buffalo Jump in Alberta
- Miles Canyon Yukon
