Back to School Snacks

Tropical Squares Recipe

INGREDIENTS
50 mL 1/4 cup margarine or butter
250 g 1 pkg (about 40) regular

marshmallows or 5 cups

miniature

1.5 L 6 cups RICE KRISPIES* cereal
2 mL 1/2 tsp vanilla (optional)
100 mL 1/2 cup dried tart cherries
200 mL 1 cup dried chopped fruit mix
PREPARATION

Regular Method


  1. Spread fruit ingredients into the bottom of a buttered 3.5 L (13 x 9″) pan.

  2. In a large microwave safe bowl, heat margarine and marshmallows at HIGH for 3 minutes,

  3. stirring after 2 minutes.

  4. Stir in vanilla and KELLOGG’S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal until well coated. Using lightly 

  5. buttered spatula, press into pan on top of fruit mixture
  6. .
  7. Allow mixture to cool. Cut into squares and serve fruit side up. Best if served the same

  8. day.

Stove Top Method


  1. Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until

  2. completely melted. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.
