Growing up you are faced with many obstacles. It makes a big difference in a child’s life to have adults they can turn to for guidance and support. Sometimes these adults are the ones who are related to us, sometimes family friends, sometimes teachers. When I was a young girl I had some great teachers. For many years we moved around and often I was not at a school for more than a year. This made fitting in a little bit difficult. When I was twelve we finally stayed put. This gave me the chance to develop some great friendships as well as get to know some fantastic teachers.
I had always loved to draw and to be creative. It was nice for me to have the encouragement of my teachers to be creative and explore my interests. Being the new kid I really needed a direction and this was it. This inspiration and encouragement allowed me to be an art major throughout high school. I feel my independence today can be stemmed back from the support I had back then. I wish I had been a teacher and made a difference in the lives of others. I can only hope I am a good role model for my children and their friends.
