I am sitting in the pouring rain watching my daughter’s soccer practice. My hands are cold, and I am a bit tired. It has been a busy day.
Busy days are good.
Especially here, on a rock that is sometimes difficult to sink roots into, busy is good.
Hubby and I had the day together. Our morning took up most of our day so after errands and such we stopped for lunch.
The rain was just starting and we were discussion the options of continuing our little life here, the possibilities, the realities, the dreams. I, of course, the optimist who runs on “gut feeling” just kept saying “ I think it will all be ok”
Him, the Brit (not that that explains everything, but it does explain a lot) was more conservative, more practical, less trusting of our future to gut instinct (possibly I DID marry well??)
Our lunch came and our server settled in for a chat.
20 minutes later a business connection was made for the hubs, and stories were told. We felt, yet again, those helping hands of saltspring island reach down and enfold us.
We left, and I said “It’s all going to be ok” and he believed me. How can he not. When you feel that you are meant to be somewhere or do something, sometimes you just need to trust it. You need to look under every rock, and around every corner. You need to try, and try and try again. Re-invent, explore, and ask for help. Sometimes it is okay to set the goal that failure is not an option.
So, we took a leap out into the rain, shook the worry off and said a “yes” to the island. And I think, I hope, it is a long lasting yes. A yes that will withstand whatever may lie ahead.
