Caramel Apples

Bring the joys of the carnival home with these delicious treat. Caramel Apples can be decorated however you like with a few extras like candy, sprinkles, nuts or whatever you like.  Here are some my daughter recently made. I think these would be a tasty treat for birthday parties, school parties or an after school snack.

Caramel Apples

Makes 10-12

Ingredients

  • 2 (14 oz.) pkg. caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 12 medium apples
  • 12 Popsicle sticks
  • chopped nuts, cookies, or candies
  • melted chocolate for drizzling

Directions

Wash and dry all apples, thoroughly, remove stems and leaves.

Then insert Popsicle sticks in stem end.

Refrigerate apples while preparing the rest.

Place caramel candies in medium size pot.

Add water and place on stove with burner on medium, stir until melted and smooth.

Remove apples from fridge.

Place each apple into bowl of melted caramel, swirl around until coated, use a spatula to cover apple.

Remove apple from caramel pot, scraping excess from bottom with spoon.

Roll caramel coated apple in your choice of topping; chopped nuts, crushed cookies, or candies.

Place on parchment paper in fridge to chill and set.

Option- Drizzle chilled apples with melted chocolate.

Return to fridge to cool and set.

Wrap each caramel apple in an individual bag, tie with twist tie or ribbon.

Store at room temperature.

These will keep for several days.

These surely will be a crowd pleaser 🙂 I know my kids can not wait to finish them off!
