Incredible Things to Do in Paris During the Summer

The capital of France might be quieter in winter, and still have plenty of things to do, but everyone knows the best time to visit is summer. There are so many events and attractions, and the warmer weather means you can take advantage of the whole city. The colder months might be best for exploring museums and warming yourself in little cafes. But you should visit when the sun is shining if you want to dine al fresco, wander through Paris’ gardens and enjoy a boat ride along the canal or the Seine. Here are some beautiful things to do in Paris during the summer that will keep you occupied whether you’re on your own or with friends and family.

Dine Al Fresco

The warm summer months are the perfect time to eat outside in Paris. You could be grabbing a coffee at a cafe, eating lunch at a restaurant or even just buying a crepe in the park. It’s great being out in the open while you sip on your drink or enjoy your meal. And it feels more social than being shut away inside. You’ll find places to eat outside all over the city.

Have a Cocktail on a Rooftop

One of the best ways to see any city has to be seeking out a rooftop bar. If you aren’t brave enough to climb the Eiffel Tower, enjoying a drink on a roof is slightly more sedate. You can even find a hotel with a beautiful elevated bar using a resource such as Venere hotels. For example, the Shangri-La Hotel Paris has a stunning rooftop terrace, which is an excellent place to watch the sunset.

Explore the Gardens

Paris has several beautiful gardens worth exploring. The Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the best, combining French style and English style gardens. You can walk around and admire the carefully cultivated landscape or find somewhere to sit down and watch the world go by. One of the great things about Paris’s parks and gardens for kids is that many of them have a carousel.

Take a Boat Ride

Seeing Paris by boat is a brilliant way to take in the city. You can go on a short journey down the canal, which is lots of fun for kids. Even if the weather isn’t agreeable, a canopy will keep everyone dry. Or, if you’d prefer, you can take a boat ride down the River Seine to see a bit more of the city.

See a Festival or Event

Just like other cities in the summer, Paris puts on an exciting program of events. If you’re in Paris during midsummer (June 21st), you’ll find free concerts all over the city as part of Fete de la Musique. Catch some open-air jazz and blues at the Paris Jazz Festival in June and July or watch an outdoor cinema screening from the Festival Paris Cinema. There’s plenty to join in with, and you’ll even find free entry for some events.

You won’t run out of things to do during a Parisian summer. Even just wandering around will take you to somewhere fascinating.

Paris is a dream trip, but unfortunately, it is still a dream. I can look at pictures of Paris on my porch.
