If, like me, you enjoy spending a bit of time pampering yourself your bathroom is no doubt an important room; for many people, it is somewhere they can go to enjoy some ‘me time’ and, as a result, this room is well worth investing in and spending a bit of time and money to improve. The more comfortable you make your bathroom the more inviting it becomes and the easier it is for you to relax while you are in there.
The good news is that you do not necessarily have to spend a lot of money to make your bathroom a more relaxing place. Often all you need to do is to make a few small changes like the ones I share with you here.
Give it a deep clean
A grungy bathroom will never be a relaxing place. There is nothing worse than laying in the bath staring at the mildew between your tiles. Therefore, you need to deep clean your bathroom periodically. It takes a few hours, but is well worth the effort.
De-clutter and reorganize
When you do your deep clean, grab the opportunity to de-clutter. Throw away any towels that have had their day, or cut them up and use them as cleaning cloths. Get rid of any old shampoos and lotions. The chances are if you have had them for six months and never used them then you never will, so there really is no point in keeping them. Throw those items away or give them to a friend.
Treat yourself to new fluffy towels
Occasionally buy a stack of fluffy towels. For the first few months, use them to accessorize your bathroom rather than to dry yourself. When you see a new set in the sales buy them, and put the previous set into the cupboard and start to use them. Also, buy a new bath mat every year; no matter how often you wash them, bath mats get grungy and start to feel odd underfoot.
Treat yourself to some nice smellies
Every bathroom should have some fancy soaps and bath bombs in jars. They look great and create a lovely background fragrance.
Install a good mirror
If you only have a small mirror in your bathroom, consider investing in a bigger one. A large mirror will help to make your bathroom look brighter, and will make tasks like shaving or putting on makeup far easier for family members.
Buy a spa bath
My last suggestion is not really a simple way to make your bathroom a more inviting space. However, I mention it because owning one really will make a difference to how easy it is for you to truly relax.
The next time you replace your bathroom suite, consider installing a spa bath. They are no longer as expensive as they used to be, so are now luxury ordinary homeowners can afford. There is a particularly good selection of these luxury baths available from Better Bathrooms.
Even if you do not have the budget now it is well worth saving up for one of these baths. Using them brings many benefits, as you can see from this article.
These are all great ideas. I need to get some new towels and buy a spa bath.
You’ve made some suggestions worth some thought. One of our bathrooms is super small so we’re at bare minimums in there, we used to have a couple of jars but they only looked cluttered in the tiny space.
I just started getting into evening baths, so it’s important to me that I have a clean tub to soak in! I cleaned it out with pure vinegar, but I think I need to do a deeper clean!
Installing a good mirror is a must. I think that is the focal piece in any bathroom.
Such good idea! I love adding pretty bath salts to my bath!
Whenever I buy myself new beauty products, I want to clean and organize my bathroom. Can’t put all the new stuff in a cluttered bathroom.
I’m trying to sell my house right now and these are great things to try out to make it look more inviting! Thanks for the ideas
We do have a garden tub which is perfect for soaking in. I would love to have some new fluffy towels. Sadly we still have some from when we were first married 20+ years ago.
