R & R in San Diego with the Perfect Spa Getaway #konakairesortsd #VisitSD

Everyone wants some R & R in their life and there is no better place to achieve this goal than the Kona Kai Resort and Spa.  Even when traveling with kids, the Kona Kai is in San Diego California at the tip of Shelter Island is the place to achieve this. The resort believes that people should be able to be casual in an elegant setting.  Anyone who visits the resort should be prepared to wander the private beaches, tropical gardens, and the marina while listening to complete silence. The friendly staff is willing to go above and beyond to help you achieve your perfect relaxing getaway.

The newly renovated Kona Kai Resort and Spa has quite a few amenities that include a private beach, pool, paddle boarding, bicycle rentals, kayaking, sail boating, fishing, badminton, and bonfires available for their guests.  Even though the resort has a large list, they want their guests to let them know if they want to do anything specific, so that they can honor the request.  The request could be something as simple as making a drink that is not on the menu or something more elaborate like planning a romantic dinner and boat trip at sunset.

As soon as a person checks in to Kona Kai, they are transported into an oasis of tranquility.  The rooms are elegantly designed with an island feel as well as the charm of a cozy cottage overlooking the bay or marina depending on which side you are on.  Guests can choose from a room or a suite, depending on how much space they require. Waking up to palm trees outside your balcony and the breeze coming off the water is a great way to start the day.

Many people wouldn’t think of a fitness center being very restful or relaxing, but I find getting a workout in while on vacation relieves any stresses from traveling and possible time differences.  The fitness center has top of the line equipment and once a person has completed their workout for the day, they can head over to the spa for some special treatments.  Guests can choose from a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and special combination packages.  Just imagine how you would feel after spending a couple of hours at the spa and then there would be no questions as to why you need to make an appointment immediately.

There is no reason to leave the resort for food, since the Vessel restaurant is on-site.  Delicious cuisine is served in this relaxed trendy environment while guests sit and look at the magnificent waterfront views.   Of course, during an R & R vacation, people do not always want to leave their rooms, especially early in the morning for breakfast.  Therefore, the resort offers in-room dining for all of their guests. For those of you looking to have a few drinks, happy hour is on daily and the atmosphere is quite inviting. Wedding parties or anyone for that matter, can book the courtyard or private beach as well for group gatherings.

Even though there is so much to do in San Diego, no one should ever feel guilty of taking advantage of some R & R while visiting the Kona Kai Resort and Spa.  Everyone needs some down time and Kona Kai will make sure that each guest leaves feeling amazing and well rested.

I enjoyed the few days I stayed at the resort recently. It is a great place for families to getaway and enjoy some down time. While mom and dad are relaxing, the kids can enjoy the pool or the endless list of activities located on and off the grounds. Weekly they host a Dive-in movie night in the pool, a big hit for all. Every day it is easy to feel relaxed as the sun, surf and sea set the scene for this great location.
