Easy Homemade Easter Egg Pretzels

Can you believe we are well into April already? I can’t believe how fast 2017 seems to be going by, and now we’re getting ready to celebrate another holiday!

With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking of fun and creative treats to prepare for the fun weekend! In our family, we bake and cook all the time, but when the holiday’s roll around we love doing fun themes for the holidays! Easter is one of those holidays that no matter what you make there is always a fun and easy way to put an Easter spin on it!

Homemade Easter egg pretzels

Today I want to share this fun recipe for making Easter Egg Pretzels! The kids have a lot of fun making them, and eating them! They are perfect for on the table during the weekend or in a basket, or included in a fun teacher gift!

What you will need:

  • Decorating bags
  • 4 small microwaveable bowls
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper
  • Scissors

Ingredients:

  • Yellow, green, pink, and white Wilton melting candy
  • Pretzels sticks

Directions:

  1. One color at a time, put your melting wafers into a small bowl, heat for 3-4 minutes on 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds until melted
  2. Once all your colored chocolates are melted, scoop them into your decorating bags with a spatula
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  4. Place your pretzels about 4″ apart on the parchment paper
  5. Cut a tiny tip off your decorating bags
  6. Now use one color to draw the egg shape swirl onto the top half of your pretzel stick
  7. Switch colors a couple times to draw zig zags or stripes
  8. Repeat steps 6-7 with different colors/patterns on each egg
  9. Let set for 30 minutes or until hardened and enjoy!

Getting the kids to help with the decorating is a lot of fun and can help spark some creativity that even they may not know they have! I find my kids get extremely creative in the kitchen and it helps motivate them to want to try more things inside and outside the kitchen, so it’s a great learning experience for them too!

You can really use any color of Wilton Candy Melts but we chose the typical Easter pastel colours which worked really well!

What do you like to do during the holidays? Make special treats or get the kids to help out in the kitchen? These turned out really cute, and they were easy to do with little mess.
