Chaga: An Important Superfood!

Eating healthy is key to living a long and fruitful life – but with all of the health foods and superfood varieties out there, how do you know which one will have benefit over another? The environment and pollution has a negative impact on our overall health and we are exposed to it on a daily basis, which means we need to be even more vigilant about giving our body the nutrients it needs to thrive.

That’s where Chaga comes in.

Though it might sound like a foreign word, Chaga has been around for hundreds of years and has been prevalent throughout Eastern medicine and culture. Slowly over the years, Chaga has been introduced into Western culture and becoming a favourite ingredient to add to smoothies, drinks, soups, and even made as a coffee or tea.

Chaga has a unique look to it and studies have shown that is has a good impact on glucose and cholesterol levels. The Western way of life is especially impacted by heart disease and diabetes, two major diseases that can possibly be reduced by adding Chaga to a daily routine. The mushroom, which grows in cold and uninhabited regions throughout Siberia and other northern regions, is full of antioxidants and nutrients. The outer shell of the mushroom is hard and looks like charcoal, while the inside is a spongy red growth that can be ground up into powder, which is then added to a variety of beverages and meals.

Chaga studies have shown that it has a noticeable impact on reducing blood glucose levels, which is ideal for those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Additional benefits of Chaga include:

  • Immune system boosting
  • Protects gastrointestinal health by balancing gut bacteria and reducing harmful bacteria, which is known to cause gastritis and ulcers
  • Reduces LDL cholesterol levels and even shows an impact on lowering blood pressure
  • Nourishes the body with antioxidants and nutrients to fight back against cancer cells

What do you need to know when shopping for health supplements and products? The quality is very important – Siberian Empire sources pure Chaga straight from the Siberian Forest using environmentally friendly practices. Choosing Chaga from uninhabited areas means that it is untouched by human or environmental pollution – this adds to the overall quality of the product and ensures consumers are getting the best ingredients on the market!
