How Much Does Drinking Water Affect Your Skincare?

Water is essential to life. In fact, most of the human body is made up of water. An average person should drink about two liters, or half a gallon, of water per day to replenish the water that is lost through natural biomechanical body processes. When it comes to skin care, drinking water is particularly important. Here is how drinking enough water will affect your skin:

Reduce Acne: Acne is an inflammatory, long-term disorder that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with oil and debris. There is no single cause of acne, but stress and a poor diet can be strong contributors. Since our bodies run on water, you will need plenty of water to help your skin fight acne.

Give Yourself a Natural Glow: The skin is the largest organ in the body. To look and feel healthy, your skin needs plenty of hydration. When you become dehydrated, your skin loses its glow and elasticity. In fact, the Pinch Test for dehydration is performed by pinching loose skin on your hand or collarbone and seeing if it is slow to return to normal. A slower return shows a loss of elasticity and is a sign of dehydration.

Beyond H2O:  Many skin rejuvenation treatments depend on our body’s natural water. For instance, the Vitamin C and E Serum from Timeless Skin Care contains a natural hydrating agent called hyaluronic acid. While hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, that water must already be present in your system before the serum can hydrate your skin.

Drinking enough water is not only essential to your skin, but also to your overall health. Make it a point to drink the recommended amount of water every day to enjoy the many benefits that proper hydration can bring to your body.

I only drink water and I find that with moisturizer, my skin looks and feels really good but I know that if I drank less water or didn’t use moisturizers my skin would definitely suffer.
